STYLING THE GUESTROOM

Yesterday I decided to style our guest bedroom..  We are having my sister stay the weekend with us, and I wanted to have it ready for her..  I styled the entire room while the baby was taking a nap..  I knew I didn't have much time and I needed to be zappy..    I was running up and down the stairs about 50 mph trying to find the right chotskies to create a simple vignette..   I LOVE redesigning my home with things that I already have..  Not bad right?

Peonies are some of my favorite flowers..  LOVE the way they light up the room, don't you agree?

Gender Nuetral Nursery

I finally had time to put some pictures of Mason's nursery..  Even though I knew the sex of my baby I still wanted to create a gender neutral nursery..  My goal was  for the design to be fun, cozy and stylish..   I'm really happy with the way it turned out!

I scored this mirror at a vintage store in LA a few years back..  I've had it in almost every room in the house and now it's finally found its perfect place..  Don't you LOVE it?

This room used to be our guestroom and I didn't want to re-paint it, so I had my guy paint these accent wall frames to make it more charming..

The M initial pillow and the pear pillow are from Jonathan Adler..  The curtains and the crib bumper  are from Ikea with custom binding..

I got the giraffe from a good friend on the day of my baby shower..  I thought it would be fun to put it next to the crib..  Prints are from etsy..

The music mobile is from bananafish..  I LOVE its soothing and warm colors..  I had the crib skirt custom made..

I try to always have fresh flower in Mason's nursery since I spend countless hours here..

Nursery Design Ideas

Nurseries are some of the most exciting and fun rooms to design..  It's important that it's inviting, well organized and balanced..  I'm in the process of designing my own nursery for my baby boy to come..  I will post about it soon..   I'm not a fan of themes I just want it to be fun, playful, elegant, and just plain fabulous!

How fun is this LIME color and this chrome rocking chair?

I LOVE a nursery with bright, fun colors..

How cute are these shades with borders?  Can't forget about the decorative pillows!

Remember to include plenty of storage to keep your sanity..  Clutter can leave you feeling scattered and drained..

A chevron pattern rug can add a big and gentle impact to your nursery..

It's always FUN to add some colorful books and toys!

Me at six months.. This summer was crazy HOT here LA..  So happy FALL is here!  I LOVE YOU FALL!!

Artifiacial Topiaries

Artificial topiaries are small decorative trees or scones..  They are an elegant addition to any decor..  Perfect for your  home, office, or display..  They look as natural in your living room just as they do outdoors in your patio..  They looks so real that you would have to touch it to know that they are not real..  The best thing about them is that they do not require any maintenance as live topiaries do..   They are also highly common at  events..  You can never go wrong with topiaries as centerpieces..  I'm a huge fan!  They are a little pricy..  However if you are a little crafty  you can easily make your own..  You can find all your materials at your local craft store or your online craft store..

What you will need to make your artificial topiary:
*  Container such as a flower pot, urn or basket. The size will depend on how large your topiary will be
*  Floral sponge block or Styrofoam
*  Foam ball(s) or cone(s). An artificial boxwood will also work well as a form.
*  Curley branch of wood - Deer moss (sheet moss)

 So elegant!

DIY WALLPAPER MEDICE CABINET

I got tired of looking at my plain medicine cabinet,  so I decided to give it a little modern twist..  I had some wallpaper samples that I ordered last year for a project I was working on, so I decided to put it into use..  You can do this project with wallpaper or scrapbook paper ( I've seen some nice scrapbook paper at Michael's)..

The one I used is by Osborne & Little, Volte Face..   I've seen people do this DIY project with spray adhesive I decided to do mine with double sided tape ( you can find some at home depot) that way if I get bored I can replace it with a different pattern..   It's very easy just remove the shelves and insert the wallpaper..  What a fun way to cheer yourself up in the morning!  Try it!

I LOVE this wallpaper and its huge ZIGZAG pattern..
